The Newest Art Installation from UWF Students

University of West Florida Department of Art and Design students designed, built and assembled a 10-foot-tall steel and acrylic sculpture as the newest addition to the From The Ground Up Community Garden.

The sculpture is a stack of welded geometric steel cubes with colored acrylic sheets attached to the sides, representing cycles of growth, the sun and the moon. Over a dozen students took what they learned in the classroom and implemented it into building the new art piece in Downtown Pensacola.

At From the Ground Up’ Community Garden, they’re growing veggies, giving back and nurturing a true spirit of community.

What began as an abandoned plot of land under the overpass in Downtown Pensacola, Florida has blossomed into a hub for education, art, music and sustainability. As a project of Innisfree Hotels’ Hive, they’re planting more than vegetables – they’re planting the seeds of opportunity.
