For the first time, Santa Rosa County Animal Services (SRCAS), Escambia County Animal Welfare (ECAW), and the Pensacola Humane Society (PHS) are joining forces for the Petco Love Florida Mega Adoption Event. The event will be held June 28-30 and represents a state-wide effort to find as many loving homes as possible for shelter pets.

The three-day event will kick off on Friday, June 28, at each organization’s shelter location and offer waived adoption fees for residents. Pensacola Humane Society will be open Friday, 11 – 4, where cats and kittens will also be available for adoption.

SRCAS, ECAW, and PHS will consolidate the dogs-only adoption event on Saturday, June 29, 9 a.m.- 1 p.m. at the Hajdi Temple, 800 W. Nine Mile Road, in Pensacola. Residents will be able to interact with puppies and adult dogs, engage with shelter
staff to learn more about their programs, and enjoy the event’s festivities.

Food trucks will be on hand. The Saturday event will feature dogs only. Cats and kittens may be seen at the Pensacola Humane Society on Friday. The Pensacola Humane Society will be closed on Sunday, June 30.

The Pensacola Humane Society is a not-for-profit, no-kill shelter for homeless dogs and cats at 5 North Q Street, Pensacola 32505. Visit our website for more information: www.pensacolahumane.org.

“We are very excited to be participating in the statewide mega adoption event this weekend,” said Animal Welfare Director John Robinson.

“Shelters throughout the state are struggling with overcrowded conditions and our shelters in the panhandle are no exception. We are excited to have the opportunity to let people see how many great pets we have available for adoption in our area.”

Escambia County Animal Welfare will be participating at Hadji Temple Shrine Center, and at the Escambia County Animal Shelter during normal business hours. Animal Shelter hours of operation are Monday-Friday, 12-5 p.m., and Saturdays from 11 a.m.-4 p.m.

“I am excited to form this partnership to showcase the amazing dogs we have for adoption,” said SRCAS Chief Randy Lambert. “Hopefully this event will be a huge step forward in emptying our community shelters.”

Santa Rosa County Animal Shelter is located at 4451 Pine Forest Road in Milton. The shelter is open on Fri., June 28, 11:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. and Sat., June 29, 10 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Visit www.santarosa.fl.gov/animals to view current adoptable animals.
