Holy Moments Amidst Change

Take a moment to consider what is changing in your life currently. Do you cringe and hide under a cloak of emotions? Or do you get excited about things changing? Regardless of how you feel about change, I’m here to encourage you that God orchestrates holy moments in the middle of it. It made me smile real big to think about you smiling when you’ve had a moment to consider this;

God walks with you during change.

When we place God at the center of our lives, He naturally walks alongside us through everything. God, the creator of the sun, moon, and stars, is the same God that knows every hair on you and me. God, the Father, who sent His one and only son (John 3:16) to walk alongside us, lives within us every day. He is hand in hand with us in the middle of change.

My daughter asked me this week what some of my favorite moments in my life have been so far. The first thing that came to mind was becoming a mother, followed up with dedicating my life to Jesus. As I said it, I realized that both of those moments had God at the center. It was a HUGE change in my life when I found out I’d be a mother. I was young, naive, and asking God for “a big change”. Little did I know that when you ask God for something in your life, He doesn’t ignore you.

When it came to fully dedicating my heart to Jesus, handing it over, and asking Him to “take the reins”; that was a big time of change as well.

Change is rarely easy. It’s rarely smooth in the process. However, change can be a good thing.

What I’ve come to find in my journey getting to know Jesus, is that through Him we can do anything. Every day, we experience change. My heart is actively transforming, my spirit is constantly softening, my confidence is growing, and that’s only on the inside. On the exterior, careers can change, relationships shift, and the world consistently throws all types of change at us.

Jesus works with us, on us, and supports us through anything that changes us.

In Romans 12:2, it says “Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.…”. Once we step into the line dance with the trinity (God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit), we never stop transforming. We will experience life differently because it’s no longer just us doing the work. No longer do we depend on our own strength to sustain us.

One of my favorite scriptures from 2 Corinthians 12:9 encourages us to boast in our weaknesses. Those favorite moments I shared with you, were two of my biggest changes, and weakest points so far in life. Owning that I was weak enabled me to find strength during a time of big change. The sweetness in the suffering was evident once I welcomed Jesus into the center of change.

Before I had the courage to call out to God in times of change, I thought I had to navigate change all on my own. Have you ever had that feeling? The feeling of doing something big, all alone?

Think with me for a moment about change. What changes big or small are you currently going through? Do you feel supported or left to figure it out on your own? Do you have the resources needed to support the change, or do you feel like you are running on empty to keep everything afloat?

Jesus offers us holy moments amidst the change. We only need a little faith to experience it. These holy moments are the spontaneous conversations we have with an encouraging friend. It’s seeing the sign that you didn’t know you needed every now and then. The holy moment in the midst of change is accessible to anybody willing to believe it.

Recognizing that Jesus is with you in the midst of change, makes everything happening seem a little easier to maintain. This week I challenge you to audit the changes happening around you. My hope is that you experience a holy moment that reminds you of the support you have when you truly believe Jesus is with you.
