Katy serves as process improvement manager for FamiliesFirst Network, where she has worked since 2004 serving abused, neglected and abandoned children from Escambia to Walton County.

Katy works in records, data, and process improvement. She is highly specialized in her knowledge of data in the child welfare system and is seen as a leader statewide for her expertise.

“Data tells stories, and it can be confusing,” she said. “My job is to make it tell the story that counts.”

The last thing she wants is for case managers to spend their time trying to figure out what data means.

Behind every piece of information is a child who needs help, and Katy wants to make sure it is accurate data to prevent delays in helping children find permanent homes. On her own time, she completed a project management course at Cornell University to hone her calling.

Katy humbly said everyone on the team puts in the effort to help each other, which helps vulnerable kids. “It’s just who we are and what we do.”
