The Weekend Top 10 highlights ten of the area's best events slated for the upcoming weekend. The following list includes events for Friday, January 12 through Monday, January 15, 2024.

There’s another weekend of hockey games starting Friday night with Ice Flyers Hockey Night, then again for the Weiner Dog Races on Saturday. See below for details.

Also, it’s a long weekend, so we’ve included events for Monday, as well – including the Martin Luther King Jr. Parade.

ICE FLYERS HOCKEY NIGHT & WEINER DOG RACES On Friday, Jan. 12, the Ice Flyers will hold Hockey Night when fans will wear their favorite NHL jerseys and see the junior Ice Flyers take to the ice for an intermission show. Then on Saturday night, Jan. 13, you will not want to miss one of the most fun nights of the year – the Weiner Dog Races. Click here for tickets and times: https://iceflyers.com/tickets/

RUMOURS ATL: A FLEETWOOD MAC TRIBUTE Friday, January 12 at 7 p.m. at Vinyl Music Hall. This band gives an extraordinary live performance of Fleetwood Mac’s most beloved songs and is always a hit. SKATEZONE ICE SKATING The ice rink used for the Pensacola Ice Flyers opens for public skate sessions, including this Friday and Sunday. On Friday, the rink will open at 9:30 p.m. On Sunday, times are available at 1:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Each session is one hour. Sessions typically occur on the weekends and after Ice Flyers Home games. Capacity is limited for each session, so get your tickets early! GUIDED BIRDING HIKE AT BIG LAGOON Saturday, January 13 from 9 a.m. – 10 a.m. at the Big Lagoon State Park. Join a volunteer on a guided birding hike to learn the basics of birding, how to Identify various birds, and how to use binoculars. Meet in the West Beach parking area. Bring Binoculars and good shoes and fill up your water bottle! It will be a 1-mile walk. More dates and information about the Birding Hike here.

LIVING THE DREAM: A TRIBUTE TO MOTOWN MUSIC An event to honor local heroes who carry the torch of Dr. King’s legacy with recognition and Motown Music Tribute. The event will be held January 13, 2024. Doors open at 5:30pm. The event begins at 6pm. The location is the Brownsville Community Center, 3200 W. DeSoto Street. For more information or to buy tickets, call 850-438-6233.

BEETHOVEN & BLUE JEANS Saturday, January 13 at 7:30 p.m. at The Saenger Theatre. In this annual celebration of Beethoven, you are welcome to wear your jeans to the symphony! The show is anchored by the composer’s Fourth Symphony. Come be enchanted by this fun and unexpected performance! Although often overlooked, because it wasn’t classified as one of Beethoven’s masterpieces, it is masterful in its own right. Personally, I love the fun of it! SECRET COMEDY SHOW: AHREN BELISLE America’s Got Talent Finalist and Kill Tony Golden Ticket winner Ahren Belisle will be at The Handlebar on January 13th at 7:30 p.m.! For tickets, visit Ahren Belisle Comedy Ticket Info.

GULF ISLANDS NATIONAL SEASHORE FEE FREE DAY Monday, January 15 all day – go enjoy this national (and local!) treasure without having to pay the entrance fee! It’s the perfect way to truly spend a day off.

MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. PARADE The 35th annual Pensacola Martin Luther King Jr. Parade will take place in downtown Pensacola on Monday, January 15th. This year’s theme is “Live the Dream—Achieve Excellence.”

The parade kicks off at 11 a.m. at the corner of Spring and Garden Streets, and it’s part of a long list of the Martin Luther King Commemorative Celebration Commission’s annual festivities. Be sure to follow MLK Parade Pensacola and CCC Events to learn more about the Commemorative Celebration Commission (MLKCCC), the parade, and related events that are planned to celebrate the life and works of Dr. King.

JAZZ PENSACOLA PRESENTS JAZZ IN THE QUARTER Monday, January 15 from 6:30 p.m. – 9 p.m. at Phineas Phoggs in Seville Qtr., Downtown Pensacola. Jazz Pensacola presents “Jazz in the Quarter” featuring: DANGER SEXTET. A variety of jazz styles from notable jazz composers such as Horace Silver, Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, Lee Morgan, Woody Shaw, and others, and a few original tunes as well!
