Improve Your Quality of Life in 2024

Raise your hand if you too feel intimidated by the idea of creating a New Year’s resolution list. If the intimidation doesn’t come from the creating, how about the accomplishing?


Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy making lists AND bettering myself. Though often times, I find that I’m over promising and under delivering on this list of goals set out at the new year. Can you relate?

In this post, I’ve compiled a list of 5 simple goals to get you started for 2024. This list is low maintenance, easy to attain, and sure to increase your quality of life from right where you are.

Over the years, I’ve channeled my focus on the quality of life versus the quantity of resolutions I can add to my life.

When putting together your goals, ambitions, or resolutions for 2024; Try asking yourself these questions:

“How can I improve my quality of life this year?”

“Will this truly add value to my life or take away?”

“Do I have the resources and/or ability to attain this?”

Setting high, unattainable expectations can lead to disappointment and set back. Taking the time to think through, ask the questions, and design an attainable list will increase your confidence and success towards your goals.

Improve your Quality of Life with these 5 things;

Gratitude Daily

I’ve heard it before that your brain cannot  process fear and gratitude at the same time. Therefore if you are focused on gratitude, it’s not possible for your brain to focus on fear. Beginning the day with a list of things you are grateful for optimizes your thought processes. Keep it simple and start with the first things that come to mind. You can collect these lists in a journal, your notes app, or on a napkin from the kitchen table.

Scripture Reading

“Give us this day our daily bread.” Gods word has the power to transform us in one moment. Scripture is a crucial tool in building our relationship with the Lord. The Bible is a living, breathing word that allows for God to speak into us any time we open it up. Nowadays, there are apps like YouVersion that allow you to set reminders for daily readings, follow Bible plans, and invite friends to join you.

Make Your Bed

This should go without saying, yet it felt important to add to the list. It’s easy to forget and worth it to remember. If nothing else goes well in your day, at least you’ve got your bed made. Nothing beats climbing into a fresh made bed at the end of a long day.

Connect with a Friend or Family Member

You know when you are driving from point A to B and so and so pops into your mind? Odds are they need a note of encouragement or a second of your time. Connecting with a friend or family member each day is sure to improve both your life and theirs. It doesn’t have to be a 45 minute phone call or a sit down dinner. A text, a voice message, or quick phone call will do.

Tip your Server More Than Average 

Giving. Giving is important. It wasn’t until later in life that I realized the importance of giving, even when you don’t have much to give. If it’s not a normal practice for you to give your time, money, or resources; I encourage you to start with the extra tip.

This isn’t a list of exercises, clean eating plans, or financial goals. These 5 goals are practical and low maintenance ways to kick start your new year off with confidence. Here’s to a year where the quality of our life is more important than the quantity of things we add to it!
