Nice Matin was the link we received through text from our New Yorker friends Melissa, Rachel, and Andrew when planning to meet them for breakfast the day after Thanksgiving.
For 20+ years the seaside charm of Nice’s Grand Promenade des Anglais has been replicated in this Upper West Side local’s favorite breakfast destination.
Morning coffee here transitions effortlessly to a stylish and sophisticated heart-of-the-neighborhood choice with a large selection of wine and palate surprises for lunch and dinner.
Nice Matin is widely known for its beautiful design and French Provençal inspired menu. And we sampled it by starting with toasted morning breads, goat cheese omelets, Brioche French toast, and smoked salmon bagels.
Chef Andy D’Amico calls this kitchen his home. He was named “Best Chef” by New York Magazine food editor Gillian Duffy.
Have a large party like us? Book their table for 10 on a slightly elevated platform which affords interesting views of the street and other guests and their menu choices.
We met Melissa and Rachel through their nursing volunteer work for Africa Mercy Ships. They have dedicated many months in the past seven years living on the ship and traveling along the coast of Africa serving those that need safe healthcare but have no access to it.
Andrew is our bonus friend as he and Rachel celebrated their second anniversary last month. He has been the Videographer and Photographer for the New York City Ballet until recently accepting the same position for the Colorado Ballet.
Our time together was a great catch-up session before he and Rachael depart soon from New York to reside in Denver.
BONUS: Take a stroll through Central Park afterward as it is only two blocks away.
Food crushing my way through this big and beautiful world, Lisa
