We asked this foodie duo to give us their thoughts about their experience at their favorite restaurant and they chose The Global Grill in Downtown Pensacola as their perfect choice for a meal.
The Global Grill is owned by Chef Frank Taylor and his wife, Jane. The Taylor family has a reputation that goes far and above the standards of being a fine dining restaurant and being located on one of America’s Greatest Streets. Their team is loyal and long-standing with many of them having 15 years or more history with the Taylors.
They had planned to celebrate their 20th Anniversary through November 11, but due to so many of their customers reaching out, they have just announced an extension of the celebration till November 18. You can celebrate with them by calling 850-469-9966 for reservations.
From Frankie and Kristen Pesce: “Kristen and I are in a stage of life that requires a little extra coordination with two boys under 4 at home.
And that is the first reason we love Global Grill. Whether we bring the boys in for a meal or want a night out to celebrate with just each other, the best staff in town are happy to accommodate us even if it is a last-minute request (Thank you, Courtney!).
And there is so much more to love about this upscale restaurant.
From the cocktails to the tapas and made-from-scratch desserts, you can’t go wrong with any decision on the menu. Kristen and I rarely order an entree as there is such a unique variety of tapas to choose from. This night we were in for a treat as we were introduced to some new specials along with our go-to faves.
For starters, Kristen is obsessed with the tempura asparagus. Add an extra side of Chef Frank Taylor’s house-made sweet soy syrup and you’ll be licking any extra off your plate.
Next, we dove into two specials (Editor’s Note: several of these specials have been replaced by their newest menu honoring favorites from the past and suggested by their fans on their Facebook and Instagram pages. Follow The Global Grill for the latest information).
First, the scallop tacos had the perfect blend of spice and flavor. Anything avocado is a hit in the Pesce house, and this was a nice touch to the plate.
Next, was the fish and crawfish etouffee tappa with homemade cheddar biscuit. The flavor was as big as the size of the plate, and it did not disappoint. This was a seasonal nod to the Gulf Coast, but we would vote to make this a year-round menu item.
Sticking with the Cajun theme, we ordered the New Orleans-style BBQ Gulf Shrimp and took Robert’s suggestion to top it with the soft-shell crab. This was our first time ordering and perfectly completed our seafood plate trifecta.
If you can make the room, it’s hard to visit The Global Grill and not taste one of their delicious desserts.
Kristen’s go-to is always the gooey chocolate cake with house-made basil ice cream. It is a one-of-a-kind combination that will leave you dreaming for more.
