Yesterday marked National Entrepreneur’s Day and we couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate than highlighting one of Pensacola’s own and his newest venture…or should we say adventure.
Nathan Holler, who is most well-known for his culinary skills at The Dog House, has combined his love for food, adventure and luxury alongside his partner, Lauren Kimbrough, a wellness coach to create Vacation Outfitters.
Vacation Outfitters (VO) cultivates raw and meaningful travel experiences for the modern-day explorer who appreciates luxury. They offer carefully curated packages to intriguing and adventurous destinations around the globe. The idea of VO came to Nathan after one winter when he exchanged his annual surf trip for a lift ticket in Steamboat Springs, Colorado.
“Since my first experience in the mountains, I was hooked and wanted to figure out how I could spend more of my life in the west during the winter. That very next season, I returned straight to Steamboat, but chose to bring a close group of friends, with Jon Shell being one of them,” said Nathan.
“During a dinner, he said, ‘Nate, you’re pretty good at organizing these trips, and we love your food. Do you think you could turn this into a business?’ Ever since Jon asked me that question, I’ve been striving to create a service that would enable me to
share what I love about these places with other like-minded individuals.”
Lauren’s experience, connections and knowledge was the perfect addition to the concept of VO and would add another layer of value.
“Lauren has been in the travel industry the last 15 years sending guests to luxury international fishing and hunting destinations. She recently launched her own business centering around wellness retreats for women and couples,” said Nathan.
One side of VO takes the stress and headache out of traveling by providing a full concierge service that will plan all the logistics. Flights, rental cars, lodging, dinner reservations and/or private chef experiences are all booked so ensure their guests enjoy their time away stress-free. Apart from making sure guests embrace the fun parts of their trip, they want to make sure it’s equally as meaningful.
“Both of us have been moving in similar directions over the years and felt there was a strong benefit to combining the two travel concepts to create experiences for guests that would not only guide them to enlightening, intriguing, & sexy destinations but help provide them with a more meaningful experience,” said Nathan.
“We all know that mental health in the workplace right now is a hot topic. Burnout is a real thing, the feeling of being stuck or losing oneself with in their chosen career is something everyone faces at some point in their life. Together, we are curating experiences and packages that will allow individuals to disconnect and reconnect with themselves, their spirituality, who “they” are and other meaningful relationships they may have neglected.”
Whether you’re looking for an adventure in the mountains, a fishing excursion in Costa Rica or a wellness retreat on the beach, the pair are well-suited to accommodate and already have several trips that are currently planned and accepting bookings. Lauren’s previous trips included dove, quail & red stag hunting in Argentina. Along with fly & sport fishing in Patagonia, Costa Rica, Brazil & the Bahamas. She also started another parent company named Live and Love Wellness that focuses on customized retreats for women and couples.
“We have made great connections over the years in some pretty incredible places. These connections get us prime dates, exclusive rates, professional drivers for reliable transportation and have access to the best guides in each area. We believe these connections add a ton of value to the consumer and their experience when booking with us,” said Nathan.
Nathan’s history includes taking groups out west to Steamboat Springs Co., Big Sky Montana & Jackson Hole, Wyoming to ski and snowboard. He also recently took large corporate groups fishing in Louisiana to chase redfish in the shallow flats in the southern most points. No matter the destination, Nathan and Lauren take pride in making sure each trip is curated to the needs of each individual.
“When it comes to customizing we work with each group to decide what they really want to get out of each trip. Then we will finalize activities, menus & itineraries. Once the trip is booked we will advise on airlines then arrange pickup from the airport after guests arrive,” Nathan concluded.
