KAYAKING TOUR – Friday, September 15 from 8 a.m. – 10:30 – Join the Florida Public Archaeology Network (FPAN) as we host a kayak tour on Pensacola Bay in celebration of Hispanic/Latine Heritage Month! Our “A Spanish Legacy along Pensacola Bay” tour will last approximately 2.5 hours and will feature a 2-mile kayaking route that considers how Spanish exploration and colonialism helped shape the Pensacola waterfront. SAILING WATCH PARTY – Friday, September 15 at 9 a.m. AMERICAN MAGIC WATCH PARTY – Cheer on American Magic as they race their AC40 in Vilanova i La Geltrú, Spain against the other teams competing in the 37th America’s Cup! OUTDOOR CONCERT – Friday, September 15 from 5:30 p.m. – 7 p.m. BANDS ON THE BAYOU WITH BEN LOFTIN & THE FAMILY at Bayview Park & Community Center. Now in its third year, the Bands on the Bayou concert series brings the Pensacola community together for a free concert with all proceeds from sponsors going to support six local nonprofit organizations. Hundreds of concertgoers will enjoy the free show from Bayview’s lawn on their own blankets, chairs, golf carts, or boats anchored in Bayou Texar. FAMILY OUTDOOR MOVIE – Friday, September 15 at 6:30 p.m. CINEMAS IN THE SAND: WALL E – The Santa Rosa Island Authority (SRIA) invites families and friends, young and old, to unpack their beach chairs and blankets, dig their toes in the sand, and spend a Friday evening cozied up on Pensacola Beach while enjoying a FREE classic family film. The 2023 Cinemas in the Sand movie nights return in June through October on select Friday nights, starting at sunset, from the Gulfside Pavilion on Casino Beach. More here: Cinemas in the Sand.
STREET PARTY – Friday, September 15 from 5 p.m. – 9 p.m GALLERY NIGHT: THE ART OF FASHION – will feature a “Pensacola Project Runway” fashion design contest. Competing designers will be creating two original clothing designs based on the theme “From Sand to Sassy. Watch the designs strut down the runway to be judged by a celebrity panel, with a final winning designer being chosen! “A Different Swag” will also take to the runway with a high-energy fashion show along with a final runway show with surprise designs created during the gallery night event, so keep an eye out! BASEBALL GAME – Sunday, September 17 BLUE WAHOOS POW/MIA TRIBUTE GAME v. Mississippi Braves. This is the final game of the regular season. The Blue Wahoos partnered with the National Naval Aviation Museum to honor POW/MIAs with a commemorative patch to be worn on the players’ jerseys. This is part of a community campaign to bring awareness to the upcoming exhibit at the museum during the 50th anniversary of Operation Homecoming.
