I am a firm believer that when you are truly passionate about an idea and deeply connect with it, it has a way of coming to life.
When you genuinely relate to your idea, it becomes a part of you, and you are more likely to invest the time, effort, and resources needed to turn it into something tangible.
I believe this was the driving force behind Dr. Erin Taliaferro-Attaway and Bryant Liggett over the last year as they brought their vision to light — The Fertility Resort.
A few months ago, I sat down with Dr. Erin Taliaferro-Attaway, Co-Founder & Medical Director, and Bryant Liggett, Co-Founder & COO, to hear about their new business venture only to find out that it was much more than a business venture, The Fertility Resort is a calling for both of these women.
Dr. Erin is a doctor of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine with 10 years of formal education in her field and 16 years of experience. She’s an expert in her field, and more specifically, an expert when it comes to practicing medicine and her healing methods to help women and families who are dealing with infertility.
Bryant Ligget founded The Fertility Resort after her own infertility struggles. Five years ago Bryant and her husband decided to try and start their own family, but “they didn’t know what they didn’t know.” After seven failed IVF attempts, a drained savings account and a million unanswered questions, the foundation of The Fertility Resort was born.
Dr. Erin and Bryant were introduced while she was going through her IVF and infertility journey and Bryant knew she needed Erin to join her on a quest to end the “I didn’t know what I didn’t know” from the Infertility Narrative, and bring home some babies.
”Erin was, and still is, my fertility acupuncturist. She was my fertility quarterback. My confidant. My cheerleader. My armchair therapist. The person who takes all of my doctor’s thoughts and synthesizes them down so that I can understand what the actionable items are,” said Bryant.
”She helps guide me in my quest to figuring out what the next right decision is for me, my body, and my future family. She’s my coach, and if there’s anything I’ve realized over the last 5 years, it’s that everyone on this path needs an Erin.”
After Bryant won the Britt + Co Selfmade pitch competition along with a grant, her concept was proved and she knew it was time to get to work. And that’s exactly what these two women have been doing over the last year.
So we know the why of their story, time to get to the what. What is The Fertility Resort? It’s a provider endorsed, membership-based, and comprehensive online community designed to connect those trying to conceive via Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) and the experts who are passionate about helping you create your future family.
It’s a single location where any person embarking on the ART journey can find resources simply and easily to help them understand the IVF process, their diagnosis, and lifestyle enhancements that might help them achieve success more quickly.
The protected community and space offers peer to peer support and provider to patient support. Find Dietitians, Pelvic Floor Therapists, Mental Health Professionals, Fertility Doulas, live support groups and more all in the same place, all with the same goal — to improve the live birth rate. An infertility concierge service, if you will.
The platform will also include a resource library where they’ve taken the most current, complex data and distilled it into easy-to-understand nuggets. Coupled with strategies of Traditional Wisdom, they help you create a lifestyle that facilitates a well rounded journey to parenthood.
“For practitioners everywhere, we all have so much knowledge to share but find it very challenging to get the information out to the right person at the right time,” Erin said.
”I hope to create a space that allows people like me, allied health professionals and fertility specialists of the Complimentary and Alternative Medicine World, to interface with lots of people and bring all of our cumulative knowledge together to create a well rounded and thoughtful experience.”
Towards the end of our sit down Bryant said “If I can’t birth a baby I want to birth something.”
Well Bryant, you did and I want to be one of the first to tell you and Erin, congratulations! You are changing the world of infertility and I can’t wait to see all the lives you change and all the babies you help bring home not just in Pensacola, but all over the world.
The Fertility Resort is currently accepting memberships, with an official launch date of September 1st. Browse their website to learn more about these extraordinary women and their mission.
