Local Pulse’s Weekend Top 10

  1. Saturday, August 26, from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m., Touch-a-Truck & Career Expo at the Community Maritime Park. Don’t miss out on this incredible opportunity to see, touch, and learn about an impressive lineup of trucks and vehicles from various industries. From fire trucks to construction equipment, police cars to utility vehicles, we have it all! Bring out the entire family for this hands-on experience.   2. Saturday, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. or 1 p.m. – 4 p.m., Fluid Art Coaster Workshop at the Maker’s Loft at Quayside Art Gallery. $65 fee for the cork and high gloss resin coasters and class instruction. Contact Quayside Art Gallery at 850.438.2363 or sign up on the web here.
  3. Saturday, August 26 at 1 p.m., Casino Beach College Tailgate Party at Casino Beach Bar & Grille. Watch the first college games of the season on their big screen! Live music starting at 2 p.m., games, and plenty of first-round beer picks! 
  4. Daily through September 9 from 10 a.m. – 9 p.m., Beyond Van Gogh Pensacola at the Pensacola Interstate Fairgrounds. Beyond Van Gogh is a rich and unique multimedia experience, taking the viewer on a journey through over 300 iconic artworks including instantly-recognizable classics “The Starry Night”, “Sunflowers”, and “Café Terrace at Night”. Saturday, August 26, from 9 a.m – 2 p.m., Palafox Market South will have a free kids corner, trolley rides, and free snow cones from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Palafox Market at the original location on Palafox is also open with a wide variety of vendors from cookie artisans to farmers and food trucks and more!   6. Saturday, August 26, from 2 p.m. – 10 p.m., Shrimp and Oyster Fest at Emerald Republic Brewing Company. Feast on local, boiled shrimp and roasted oysters by A Rustyc Spoon. Enjoy specialty crafted cocktails including Shrimp Bloody Marys and Oyster shooters, in addition to our twelve craft beers and fully stocked bar.   7. Saturday, August 26, 7:00 p.m., YIKES! Comedy Presents: Dave Stone at Vinyl Music Hall. Performances also by Gale MzUndastood, John Strickland, Rayna Cahill, and hosted By Andrew Ferrara. Based in Los Angeles by way of Atlanta, Dave Stone made his television debut on “The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson” in 2013 and in the same year was selected to the prestigious “New Faces” roster of the Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal. Since then, he has been seen on season 8 of NBC’s “Last Comic Standing”, Viceland’s “Flophouse”, and Travel Channel’s “Cheat Day Chow Down”. For tickets or more information, click here.
  8. Sunday, August 27, from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m., Blues Angel Blues on the Bay featuring The Bay Bridge Band at Community Maritime Park. If you love the music of Chicago, Blood Sweat and Tears, The Doobie Brothers, Van Morrison, and The Beatles, you’ve come to the right place because we love that music too. The Bay Bridge Band brings the power of a full horn section to the pop/rock hits of the ’60s, ’70s and ’80s. Bring your lawn chairs and some goodies for a great time listening to live music at the Community Maritime Park. 
  9. Sunday, August 27 at 7 p.m., KC and The Sunshine Band at The Saenger Theatre. Celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the legendary disco and dance group KC and The Sunshine Band. For tickets, visit here.

Jazz Brunch at Felix’s every Sunday from 10 am-2 pm for New Orleans Shrimp and Grits, Crab Cake Benedict, French Quarter Waffle, Chimichurri Flank Steak and Eggs, Avocado Toast and Eggs, or one of our other tasty brunch dishes, and relax on the waterfront!
