PPD Welcomes Bear, Bo, Jax & Cino

The Pensacola Police Department officially welcomed four furry officers to the team today at Mayor D.C. Reeves’ press conference. The four-legged newbies are trained and ready to start enforcing paws to help keep Pensacola safe.

K-9 Bear, K-9 Bo, K-9 Jax & K-9 Cino have been on duty for about a month now but today marks their official public recognition.

Deputy Chief Kevin Christman introduced the four newest police officers as followed:

K-9 Bear

Bear is a 1.5 year old Belgian Malinois certified in narcotics detection, tracking and criminal apprehension. Bear was paid for by a donation from the Bear family through Pensacola’s Finest Foundation. 

K-9 Bo

Bo is a 2 year old Belgian Shepard certified in narcotics detection, tracking and criminal apprehension. Bo was paid for by a donation from Hanto & Clarke through through Pensacola’s Finest Foundation. Bo was named after Officer Archie Bowman, Pensacola Police Officer killed in the line of fire in 1938.

K-9 Cino

Cino is a 1.5 year old German Shepard certified in narcotics detection, tracking and criminal apprehension.

K-9 Jax

Jax is 1.5 year old Belgian Malinois certified in narcotics detection, tracking and criminal apprehension. Jax was donated by Sargent Parsons and is the son of a previous K-9 Officer, Yonis.

“Two of these dogs were purchased entirely from donations from the Bear Family and Hanto & Clarke through Pensacola’s Finest Foundation and we can’t say thank you enough. These dogs are an invaluable tool to public safety. They are able to not just find suspects and find drugs, but they go a long way in protecting our police officers.” — Deputy Chief Kevin Christman, Pensacola Police Department.
