Get Married Like the Locals Do

Susie Ward, Owner & Operator of Lazy Days Wedding Services with two Lazy Days employees

The weather did not look like it today, but wedding season is officially in full swing and I think we can all agree we live in pretty spectacular place for a wedding. More specifically, a beach wedding.

Susie Ward saw the potential and beauty of our backyard and what started out as a favor for friend turned into a full blown business and labor of love — Lazy Days Wedding Services, sister company to Lazy Days Beach Service.

“Lazy Days was asked on a few occasions to provide chairs for beach wedding ceremonies. Then, when one of the Lazy Days managers in Navarre was getting married, we put on the whole ceremony for him.

The finished product turned out more stunning than we ever imagined. From that point, the bookings started flowing and the business was born,” Susie Ward, Owner & Operator, Lazy Days Wedding Services.

So what makes Lazy Days wedding set up so special? There are a few things that immediately stand out. The lush green palm fronds and tropical flora being one of them. Even more impressive? Susie grows them in her own backyard.

“The wedding florals and palm trees are a labor of love – it’s a full time job keeping them going, but my 3 year old son is a great helper!

The blooms and florals are all native to this area and at the end of every season they get planted in our back yard for us to enjoy,” Susie elaborated.

The second standout are the canvas chairs that blend effortlessly with the sugary white sand beaches. With the help of the Lazy Days warehouse manager, the white canvas style beach chairs were hand made specifically for the beach ceremony set-up.

“I believe we are the only wedding service to offer this unique style of chairs. They add a level of elegance, while keeping the laid back beach wedding vibe,” Susie added.

The third quality that makes Susie’s business stand out from the rest isn’t one you can see immediately, but one locals can appreciate and gives meaning to her motto “get married like the locals do!”

“It means we do not allow anything that is harmful to our beaches, marine life or wildlife. No artificial flowers or petals, rice or glass. We take great pride in our home and want to keep our beaches safe and clean for everyone.” Susie explained.

And for that, we thank you Susie! We look forward to seeing more of your dreamy set-ups this season and following along your ‘labor of love.’
