A New Mural at Magdalene’s

Photo and artwork by: Macy Lyn Wargo

If you’ve driven down Highway 98 past Magdalene’s Gift Shop in Gulf Breeze lately, a new pop of color might have caught your eye. Macy Lyn Wargo just finished a gorgeous, eye-catching butterfly mural on the side of the building’s west facing wall.

Once a year, Macy donates a mural to not only get the art out, but to raise awareness for organizations and small businesses. This year, that organization was Magdalene’s Gifts & Gatherings located at 3268 Fordham Parkway in Gulf Breeze.

“And what better way to give back than to give to an organization that gives so much! Thank you Magdalene’s Inc. for all that you do! It was truly my pleasure to paint for you!” Macy shared on her Facebook page.

Magdalene’s Gifts & Gatherings is a retail enterprise supporting their mission through sale of artisan-designed products. All net proceeds of Magdalene’s Gifts & Gatherings are used to bring awareness around the issue of sex trafficking in our area, to provide and enhance services for survivors and to support Magdalene’s House, their long-term residential program for the recovery of adult women survivors. The shop is also run and managed 100% by volunteers.

The gift shop specializes in local, artisan-designed products, including signature pieces carrying Magdalene’s mission, to love and serve all women in their journey toward healing and restoration. Products include jewelry, candles, original art, photography, pottery, wall crosses, and customized and personalized gifts. Magdalene’s has a growing selection of products hand crafted by survivors.

Thank you for your truly life-changing work in our community and thank you Macy for your stunning art work. Go visit their shop this Memorial Day Weekend and tag us and Macy in your butterfly mural pics!
