Grand Opening of Doc’s Hop Shop Saturday

Doc’s Hop Shop has been open for several months now, but tomorrow they will celebrate their grand opening. Doc’s, formerly Gulf Coast Brewery, was purchased by father-son duo Steve and Rob Moehle.


The microbrewery is named “Doc’s” after co-owner Steve, who is a retired medical doctor.

Led by brewing expert, Mike Helf, Doc’s offers 12 different beers brewed in-house. Brews range from the Gulf Coast Blonde Ale to a Raspberry Wheat to a Deluna Coffee Stout, with a lager, pilsner, IPAs, and Hefeweizen in between.

Doc’s is also proud to offer 9 selections from two local brewers: Pensacola Bay Brewery and Perfect Plain, as well as beers from East to West Coast.

The beautiful facility is home to a large bar, a gorgeous pool & game room, and a covered deck. Two food trucks, Public Affairs Gastropub, and Di Da Vietnamese Cuisine, flank either side of the building. After placing your order at the trucks, you can find a spot inside, order a beer or soda and the food truck will bring your food to you.

When we stopped by co-owner Rob Moehle was preparing for the festivities tomorrow, April 29 at noon. The party will include 400 pounds of crawfish sold at $2.00 per pound (that is not a typo), $5 Doc-branded beers, a magic show at noon, and the East Hillbillies at 6 p.m. There’s plenty of indoor space and a covered deck in the event of rain.

Doc’s Hop Shop is conveniently located at 500 E. Heinberg Street near the corner of 10th and Heinberg, close to McGuire’s.
