What: Pensacola EggFest
Why: Supporting local charities
When: Nov. 13, noon – 3 p.m.
Where: Pensacola Blue Wahoos Stadium

For its 10th anniversary, foodie event Pensacola EggFest is bringing back celebrity judges U.S. Navy Seal veteran Kevin “Dauber” Lacz, consultant and actor in the hit film American Sniper, and Navy veteran, boss of sauces, judge, and Champion Pit Master Chef Big Moe Cason — host of National Geographic’s World of Flavor and winner of more than 35 BBQ competitions.

The nearly sold-out event is bringing in another 40 local judges including chefs Alex McPhail, Frank Taylor, Irv Miller, Jason Perry, and Slade Douglas.

“EggFest wouldn’t be EggFest without the presence of Kevin and Big Moe,” said Jerold Hall, one of the founders of Pensacola EggFest. “And for them to give their time to be here and support this community event means the world to us. It’s interesting their service started to their country and now they’re serving to lift up the communities around us. And how fitting that this falls on Veteran’s Day weekend.”

Moe Cason said Pensacola EggFest is one of top events he attends every year and it stays top of mind because of the important impact to the community.

“In 10 years, Pensacola EggFest has given back more than half a million dollars to local charities,” said Cason. “Where else can you sample some of the finest barbecue around and know that your dollars are going to help local charities that address hunger and childhood cancer. This event has been so successful because these folks love their community.”

Since its inception, Pensacola EggFest has raised $550,000 to support local charities like childhood cancer and systemic hunger and has served more than 20,000 meals to those in need. Charities have included Rally Pensacola, Manna Food Pantry, Studer Community Institute, Last Mile 5K, NWF Guardian Ad Litem, PACE Center for Girls and Escambia County Sheriff’s Office Blazer Academy.

Tickets to the VIP Event honoring Veteran’s Day Weekend have sold out but a limited number of General Admission tickets are still available for the event on November 13.
