Pensacola Habitat for Humanity is racing towards the finish line for its Ninth Annual Women Build, as over 140 powerful women in the community have already raised $40,000 through various fundraising efforts.

Women Build is a Pensacola Habitat for Humanity initiative that brings women together to build another woman’s home from the ground up while fundraising for Pensacola Habitat’s mission to build homes, communities and hope. These women are nearly halfway towards the $100,000 fundraising goal as they prepare to build a home for this year’s Home Buyer Latoya and her son Jamias.

“These Home Buyers persist through challenges and are overflowing with gratitude to become homeowners. I participate in Women Build because I want to help them achieve their life-changing dream of homeownership and build a foundation that improves their lives and our entire community,” said Casey Kuktelionis, who is participating in her fifth Women Build. “I believe God put us here to help each other and Women Build is a fun and tangible way to be of service. You’ll find me on the construction site every fall as I keep hammering away at my goal of helping to build 50 homes for 50 women in our community.”

Many of the Women Build teams are joining together for a Women Build Yard Sale on Saturday, Sept. 10, from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. at Marcus Pointe Baptist Church (6205 North W St). The community is invited out to check out the treasures on sale, with all proceeds going right into the campaign. The Yard Sale is part of the Women Builders’ efforts to finish strong before Build Week begins Oct. 4.

Those that can’t make it to the Yard Sale can still donate to Women Build and create or join an existing team by visiting womenbuild.pensacolahabitat.org.
