Electric scooter users in the City of Pensacola are reminded to always follow city rules and ordinances for operating e-scooters, along with all applicable state traffic laws. The City of Pensacola will be enforcing rules for proper riding and parking of shared micromobility devices including e-scooters, and users not in compliance will be subject to written citations and/or fines.

Violations of the City of Pensacola micromobility ordinance, such as improper parking or operating an electric scooter on a sidewalk, may result in a written citation with a $150 penalty. Violating state traffic laws while riding e-scooters may result in a moving violation and associated penalty.

Decals have been placed on sidewalks throughout the city to reinforce the “no sidewalk riding” rule in the City of Pensacola’s micromobility ordinance, which prohibits riders from riding electric scooters on sidewalks. E-scooters should always ride on the road and within bike lanes when available.

The City of Pensacola has also installed new e-scooter parking corrals in various locations downtown to encourage the public to park courteously when using shared micromobility devices. Users who park an e-scooter in one of the parking corrals will receive a 50 cent credit on their account to apply toward a future ride.

As a reminder, the following rules are in effect through the City of Pensacola’s Shared Micromobility Pilot Program. The public should be aware of these rules before renting and operating a micromobility device.

Electric Scooter Rules and Guidelines

    1. Riders are prohibited from riding electric scooters on sidewalks, but may access a sidewalk to park the scooter. Riders should park courteously, which means e-scooters should be parked upright at all times and should not block the pedestrian path. When parking an e-scooter, make sure to leave enough space for a wheelchair to access the sidewalk.
    2. Riders are not allowed to ride on the streets identified on the franchise area map as No Ride Zones.
    3. Riders are not allowed to park and end a ride on sidewalks on the streets identified on the franchise area map as No Park Zones.
    4. Electric scooters are not operational or available for use between the hours of midnight and 5 a.m., Friday morning through Sunday morning.
