Pensacola Habitat for Humanity received a $30,000 donation from Publix Super Market Charities, continuing their partnership with a partial home sponsorship and allowing a local resident to achieve his dream of affordable homeownership.

With the rising costs of building materials and the scarcity of land contributing to the affordable housing crisis, these type of donations are more vital than ever in helping Pensacola Habitat achieve its mission to bring people together to build homes, communities and hope. Donations like this have helped Pensacola Habitat stay on track to reach its goal to build over 50 houses this fiscal year. The donation was celebrated with a meet and greet at the finished home with the soon-to-be homeowner and his child, with Publix leadership getting a chance to see firsthand how their contributions will change a family’s life.

“We’ve enjoyed a strong partnership with Publix Super Market Charities over the years and are happy to see that continue,” said Pensacola Habitat President/CEO Sam Young. “What we do would not be possible without people and businesses across our community coming together to share their time, talents and treasure with us to make it all happen. This home is a prime example of what can happen when we come together to work on our goals.”

Publix Super Market Charities is one of the biggest supporters of Habitat for Humanity International affiliates across the nation, and Pensacola Habitat has been a beneficiary of that strong relationship with the charitable arm of the largest employee-owned supermarket chain in the United States. This partial home sponsorship is the latest resulting achievement. Every contribution received, no matter the size, helps Pensacola Habitat maintain its current pace to build more than 50 homes in fiscal year 2022.

“There are far too many individuals and families in our communities without roofs over their heads. We’re committed to helping them find the support they need to one day achieve the stability and independence that comes from having a place to call their own,” said Publix Super Market Charities Executive Director Kelly Williams-Puccio. “We’re honored to continue our support of organizations like Pensacola Habitat for Humanity who are focused on housing and the well-being of our communities.”
