Escambia County School District Students Win Prizes in Essay Contest

Six students from four different ECSD schools were recently presented with prize money for their submissions to the “I Dream a World” essay contest.


Sponsored by Together Pensacola, this contest was open to all ECSD students in grades 4-12. Prizes were awarded for first, second, and third place in the various divisions. Prize money ranged from $200 for first place in the high school division, to $25 for third place in the elementary division.

This year’s winners:

Elementary School (4th and 5th grades)

      • 1st place – Raelynn Richardson – 4th grade Pleasant Grove Elementary
      • 2nd place – Gabriella Fox – 5th grade Scenic Heights Elementary
      • 3rd place – Lilly Dekker – 5th grade Molino Park Elementary

High School (grades 9 – 12)

      • 1st place – Makayla Quibodeaux – 11th grade Booker T. Washington
      • 2nd place – Marina Deubler – 11th grade Booker T. Washington
      • 3rd place – Angelica King – 11th grade Booker T. Washington

Together Pensacola representatives presented checks to the winners at their schools over the past two weeks.

Together Pensacola (ToP) is a group of concerned citizens who come together to brainstorm and discuss ways to help build connections and strengthen relationships among people in the Pensacola Bay area. This group focuses on what unites the community, rather than on differences. Their goal is to promote and introduce ideas and activities to implement this brand of community building. ToP is a community effort, and invites others to join.
