Sherwood Elementary School to Host ‘Heroes with a Heart’ Fun Run

kids warm up with adults before running

Sherwood Elementary School will be supporting the American Heart Association by participating in the ‘Kid’s Heart Challenge’ event for two weeks during their PE classes.

Students will be celebrating healthy hearts and cardio fun, and would love for community Heroes to come join the fun on the last day – Friday, February 11th.

Police, Sheriff’s Department personnel, Firefighters, EMTs, or any Military personnel are invited to spend 30-40 minutes with the grade level of their choosing. Sherwood would love to welcome as many ‘Heroes’ as possible.

“We are thrilled with the opportunity to promote heart health and to honor our local ‘Heroes’ in one event,” stated Sherwood principal Kristen Danley. “We encourage all members of local law enforcement, fire fighters, and military members to participate!”

The run will be held on the dirt track behind the school buildings. Participants will need athletic attire and proper identification, and should check in at the front office. Light refreshments will be served.

Please contact Bridget Wakeman, PE Teacher at (407)948-8198 or Bwakeman@ecsdfl.us should you have questions and/ or to confirm your attendance.

Sherwood Elementary School is located at 501 Cherokee Trail in Pensacola.
