United Way of West Florida (UWWF) is thrilled to announce that the 28th Day of Caring will return on Friday, February 25, 2022. United Way of West Florida has organized and coordinated Day of Caring since 1993, and it is the largest single-day of volunteerism in Northwest Florida.
This community-wide initiative connects volunteers with local nonprofit organizations and schools needing support for a single day of service. Since it began, United Way of West Florida has coordinated 28,026 volunteers through Day of Caring that have rolled up their sleeves and completed more than 2,500 projects across Escambia and Santa Rosa counties.
“We’re so thrilled to be able to bring our community together again for this special day,” said UWWF Director of Community Impact, Mary Zaledonis. “Day of Caring does so much for the organizations and schools in need of support, but also in connecting these generous volunteers to the needs and pulse of our community,” she added.
In 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic complicated volunteerism, over 1,000 volunteers signed up to continue this tradition. Those volunteers completed 150 projects at 73 agencies and schools in the community.
Nonprofit organizations, schools, and volunteer groups interested in participating in Day of Caring should complete the Day of Caring Interest Form found at www.uwwf.org/DayofCaring by January 14, 2022.
