The taproom and cocktail bar is now featuring an elevated small plate menu inspired by Spanish and Latin cuisine

The Well, a vintage Florida-style taproom and cocktail lounge that opened earlier this summer in the East Garden District of downtown Pensacola has expanded its food menu to offer a unique culinary experience unlike any other bar or restaurant in the city. Chef Amy Potmesil developed an elevated bar menu composed of six small plates inspired by coastal Florida and infused with Spanish and Latin flavors. The curated menu was designed to complement the recently introduced raw oyster experience and already established craft cocktails and funky beer program. Additionally, Potmesil sources the freshest local ingredients and pickles, preserves, and ferments all the fruits and vegetables and other housemade dressings and sauces used to build the savory dishes.

“The menu was inspired by my Floridian roots. “I pulled from Pensacola to South Florida and everywhere in between,” said Potmesil. “This expanded food menu explores Spanish and Latin flavor profiles, fermentation, and the idea of imbibing in true Floridian fashion.”

Seafood plates include snapper ceviche served with yuca chips, smoked local fish dip served with pickled vegetables and house fermented hot sauce, spicy ahi tuna tostones served on crispy smashed plantains, and topped with hackleback caviar. Chilled peel and eat Royal Red shrimp are boiled with Perfect Plain beer and served “head on”. Additional vegetarian-friendly plates include marinated Spanish olives with preserved oranges and a heart of palm salad served with watercress, black radishes, avocado, Florida citrus, and green papaya. The kitchen will be serving food Thursday-Sunday and menu items range in price from $8 – $14.

In addition to the introduction of a small plate menu, The Well has also launched a “Sunday Funday” Brunch Cocktail Menu. Ranging in price from $9 – $12 the festive menu features a Spicy Paloma made with Mezcal, a Cold Brew Cocktail with Irish whiskey, a Cucumber-infused Spritz, a Bloody Mary spiced with housemade hot sauce and garnished with fresh pickled vegetables – if you are feeling bold you can upgrade your garnish game by adding a “head on” Royal Red shrimp. The menu also includes a selection of bubbles that can be purchased by the glass or by the bottle starting at $5.
