Dream Defenders to hold vigil for Black lives Wednesday afternoon in Seville Square

Just moments prior to Derek Chauvin being found guilty for the murder and manslaughter of George Floyd,  15-year old Makiah Bryant was shot and killed by police in Columbus, Ohio this afternoon. In the wake of recent events, the Pensacola Dream Defenders will hold a vigil for Black lives Wednesday afternoon in Seville Square.

“It’s a time of safe space and reflection. We don’t celebrate, we think about what this means for our future. Join us tomorrow as we honor those that we have lost and ponder on what a future here looks like for Black lives,” wrote Hale Morrisette of the Dream Defenders.

The vigil will take place at 5:30 PM at Seville Square, at 311 E. Government Street. Masks are required.
