Pensacola cemetery vandalized overnight

Four marble vases and one granite vase were vandalized overnight at Bayview Memorial Park on Scenic Highway in Pensacola.

Pensacola Police Officer Britney Sturgeon said the damage was discovered Tuesday morning by maintenance personnel and reported to police around 9 a.m.

The vases were broken off headstones and a terra-cotta vase that had been placed on a grave was damaged. Sturgeon said total damage was estimated at approximately $2,075.

Cemetery personnel are in the process of attempting to notify family members, Sturgeon said. The headstones did not have any markings on them indicating they were based upon recent vandalisms in Jewish cemeteries elsewhere in the country.
