Evers nabs law enforcement endorsements

Florida’s two police unions want State Sen. Greg Evers to be Northwest Florida’s next Congressman. The Florida Police Benevolent Association (PBA) and Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) formally endorsed Evers on Wednesday.

“I am humbled by the support from the men and women of law enforcement who put their lives on the line every single day for us,” Evers said. “With all our first responders are up against these days, the least we can do is support them in every way possible.”

A release from Evers’s campaign said he won the FOP endorsement after a favorable recommendation from the men and women in FOP District 1.

“We have fought many battles alongside Greg Evers and know that he will work with dedication and passion for his constituency,” the FOP said in an emailed statement. “His proven dedication to serving his community, and his experience, gives him an insight into what is needed in our state.”

The Florida Police Benevolent Association also praised Evers in their endorsement announcement.

“Your long relationship with the PBA and unrivaled support for law enforcement is greatly appreciated,” said Matt Puckett, Executive Director of the Florida PBA. “We ask all our members, their friends and families, and all citizens in the district who respect the strong and efficient enforcement of our laws, to cast their ballots for Greg Evers for United States Representative, District 1.”
