Gaetz launches first TV ad for congressional campaign

State Rep. Matt Gaetz unveiled on Tuesday his first TV ad in his bid to succeed the retiring Jeff Miller as Northwest Florida’s representative in Congress.

Titled “Fight Back,” the ad’s use of fast cuts, dramatic music, and adversarial language aims to stir an emotional response in viewers.

“I’m not running for Congress because I want to go to Washington,” Gaetz says in the ad. “I’m running for Congress because we can’t trust Washington. We can’t trust the spineless politicians. We can’t trust the lawless bureaucrats.”

Gaetz also pledges to “pass open carry,” “kill Muslim terrorists,” and “build the wall,” in the ad.

“Our nation is in trouble, but we only have two choices — to give up, or to fight back,” Gaetz continues. “I’m ready to fight, and I hope you are too.”
