Not more than six months after opening their first location outside New Orleans in Pensacola, the Ruby Slipper Cafe is on track to add a sixth restaurant to its culinary portfolio with plans to build a restaurant in Orange Beach, Ala.
According to City of Orange Beach officials, The Ruby Slipper is seeking approval from the city planning commission to build a 6,500-square-foot restaurant at 24151 Perdido Beach Blvd., just west of the Live Bait restaurant in Orange Beach.
Owners of the Ruby Slipper Cafe said they hope to have their newest location open next year. “If all goes well in permitting & construction, we’ll be enjoying beachside Benedicts in Summer 2016,” the restaurant announced on its Facebook page this morning.
Erich and Jennifer Weishaupt started The Ruby Slipper Cafe in New Orleans in 2008. In addition to their new planned location in Orange Beach, the owners are also relocating their restaurant in New Orleans’ Mid-City neighborhood to a much larger building in the same neighborhood. The new 125-seat location will allow for expansion of their corporate offices, kitchen and include a new private event room and children’s playground. The owners have said they hope to open the new restaurant in New Orleans by next fall.
